contents Travel prediction methodology in mediumsized cities with GIS-T: maximum to minimum cost disaggregation José Antonio Gutiérrez-Gallego Enrique Eugenio Ruiz-Labrador Francisco Javier Jaraíz-Cabanillas Jin Su Jeong Geografía Social GIS origin Network analysis assignment models destination matrix This paper describes the design of a traffic assignment model that predicts flows for each segmentof an urban network with a higher resolution than a traditional four stage model, retaining theorigins and destinations of travel. The research objectives are to determine the traffic intensity inspecific areas of the network, and then to identify the origins and destinations of travel to predictchanges in urban mobility. To achieve these objectives, relational databases and the geographicinformation system for transport environment are used (GIS-T), together with data from householdand intercept interviews, to identify mobility patterns in the middle-sized city of Mérida,Spain. These application programs can detect changes in the mobility patterns and can locateproblem areas. The results obtained show a high degree of adjustment between the predictionsand the actual observations of the trips. In addition, the disaggregation levels in each midpointsection of the network combined with population data adjustment using population pyramidsavoid bias in the travel samples. 2015 artículo científico 0210-5462 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=17143397007 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=171 Cuadernos Geográficos application/pdf Universidad de Granada Cuadernos Geográficos (España) Num.2 Vol.54
