| contents | Family ties and labor supply Antonia Díaz M. Dolores Economía y Finanzas Family ties labor supply search effort household formation We develop a theoretical model of the household where family ties impose adistortion on the job search incentives of unemployed members and on theyoung adults decision of leaving the parental house. We find that the searchefforts of unemployed family members are strategic substitutes, the youngadult leaves the parental house only if his market wage is suffciently high, and a low wage for the young implies that the mothers and the young adultssearch efforts are low and, as a result, their probabilities of unemploymentare high. The presence of a household good is crucial for these result. Themodel predictions are roughly consistent with the Spanish evidence. 2005 artículo científico 0210-1521 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=17329203 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=173 Investigaciones Económicas application/pdf Fundación SEPI Investigaciones Económicas (España) Num.2 Vol.XXIX |
