contents Flat tax reforms: a general equilibrium evaluation for Spain Marta González-Torrabadella Josep Pijoan-Mas Economía y Finanzas Income tax general equilibrium heterogeneous agents This paper quantifies the aggregate and distributional implications of an arrayof revenue neutral flat tax reforms for Spain. A standard general equilibriumeconomy with heterogeneous agents is used to evaluate the impact of the taxreforms. We find that dierent flat tax reforms may generate important changesof aggregate allocations in opposite directions. Among all the reforms, amarginal tax equal to 23.11% and a fixed deduction equal to 30% of per capitaincome will yield increases in aggregate output, aggregate consumption andlabor productivity equal to 5.1%, 4.8% and 2.8% respectively. Admittedly, thistype of reforms also generate increases in the gini indexes of after tax incomeand consumption. However, the proposed reform reduces the tax bill of thebottom 60% of the income distribution. 2006 artículo científico 0210-1521 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=17330206 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=173 Investigaciones Económicas application/pdf Fundación SEPI Investigaciones Económicas (España) Num.2 Vol.XXX
