contents Efficiency improvements and water policy in the Balearic Islands: a general equilibrium approach Dolores Tirado Javier Lozano Carlos M. Gómez Economía y Finanzas water economics applied general equilibrium We use an Applied General Equilibrium Model of the Balearic Islands toexplore the impact of increasing the technical eciency of water use in thetourism sector. We show that water eciency measures do not reduce economicpressures on water ecosystems. Consequently water price increases andreductions in water withdrawals are needed as ancillary measures. This waterpolicy package opens a menu of possible outcomes in terms of conservationof water resources and the production of market goods. We also provide informationabout distributional impacts that should be considered to determinethe convenience of implementing water saving programs. 2006 artículo científico 0210-1521 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=17330302 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=173 Investigaciones Económicas application/pdf Fundación SEPI Investigaciones Económicas (España) Num.3 Vol.XXX
