Gómez Economía y Finanzas water economics applied general equilibrium We use an Applied General Equilibrium Model of the Balearic Islands toexplore the impact of increasing the technical e��ciency of water use in thetourism sector. We show that water e��ciency measures do not reduce economicpressures on water ecosystems. Consequently water price increases andreductions in water withdrawals are needed as ancillary measures. This waterpolicy package opens a menu of possible outcomes in terms of conservationof water resources and the production of market goods.
