  • Characterization and typification of citrus production systems in the department of Meta José Alejandro Cleves-Leguízamo Alfredo Jarma-Orozco Agrociencias Citrus sp farm surveys Cropping systems production structure agricultural statistics Agriculture is a co-evolutionary process between societyand nature. Agroecology is an environmental science whichfocuses on ecosystem-culture and society-nature interactivesystems, the effect of human intervention in the transformation of ecosystems. The central objects are agroecosystemsand the units of study are production units. These productionunits are conceived of as agricultural systems and are foundin the crossroads of multiple interactions between biophysical, socioeconomical, cultural, and production components, whichmust be analyzed with an integrated concept. In the presentstudy, a characterization and typification of the citrus agroecosystems of the department of Meta were pursued (Colombia). The pertinence of implementing the methodology designedby the Latin-American Center for Rural Development (Centro Latinoamericano para el Desarrollo Rural-RIMISP) wasevaluated, grouping the variables with a focus on an analysisof livelihoods. A survey and interview were defined as methodsof collecting the primary information in the municipalities ofPuerto López, Villavicencio, Granada, Lejanías, Guamal andSan Martin, where 78.4% of the citrus area of the departmentis found. This study involved the selection and definition ofthe evaluation variables, validation and adjustment of saidvariables, collection of primary and secondary information, andthe application of multivariate statistical analysis techniquesto conform and characterize the recommendation domains orgroups. The more important results indicated that it is possibleto increase knowledge of the interrelations that exist betweenthe different components of farm agroecosystems and theirrelationship with the principal agroecological structure. Theexistence of six agricultural groups or recommendation domains was established, with some productive characteristicsvery similar within the group but very heterogeneous to theoutside of the group, with particular necessities. 2014 artículo científico 0120-9965 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=180330697015 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=1803 Agronomía Colombiana application/pdf Universidad Nacional de Colombia Agronomía Colombiana (Colombia) Num.1 Vol.32
