contents Segregación residencial en las principales ciudades chilenas: Tendencias de las tres últimas décadas y posibles cursos de acción Jorge Cerda Gonzalo Cáceres Francisco Sabatini Estudios Territoriales The pattern of residential segregation is undergoing two crucial changesin Chilean cities: its geographical scale is shifting, and segregation’smalignancy is increasing. Seemingly, these changes are affecting most ofLatin American cities. They are linked to the land markets’ liberalizationpolicies and to the processes of economic and cultural globalization ofthe past decades. This paper presents empirical data showing the effectsof these changes for three Chilean cities (Santiago, Valparaíso,Concepción); and theoretically discusses the relationship between socialinequality and spatial segregation, rejecting the usual approach thatconsiders the latter as a mere spatial reflection of the first. 2001 artículo científico 0250-7161 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=19608202 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=196 EURE application/pdf Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile EURE (Chile) Num.82 Vol.XXVII
