We employed a quantitative methodology, collecting data through questionnaires and obtaining 800 valid responses. The research was conducted in Blumenau, Brazil, utilizing an ordinal logistic regression to analyze the odds ratios of different groups verifying the authenticity of information before sharing it on social media. The analysis revealed that age and education are significant factors in the verification of information, while gender does not significantly influence this behavior. The results indicate a higher likelihood of not verifying information among older users with lower levels of education. 2024 artículo científico 1605-4806 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=199581272004 https://www.redalyc.org/journal/1995/199581272004/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/1995/199581272004/html/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/1995/199581272004/199581272004.epub https://www.redalyc.org/journal/1995/199581272004/movil https://doi.org/10.26807/rp.v28i121.2153 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=1995 Razón y Palabra application/pdf Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador Razón y Palabra (Ecuador) Num.121 Vol.28
