- Electoral apathy among Chilean youth: New evidence for the voter registration dilema Andrés A. Acuña-Duarte Administración y Contabilidad Tobit Youth vote Random effects Fractional response Electoral engagement The decision of voter enrollment among Chilean youth is re-examined in this paper. Geographical and gender differences regarding what determines voter-registration rate among youth are also explored. Electoral and socioeconomic data are collected from 272 Chilean counties in order to estimate the fractional-response and the random-effects Tobit models. The results indicate that the voter registration rate is higher among lower-income youth, which differs from earlier studies, and redefines the implications of a class-biased electorate in Chile. Furthermore, the evidence suggests an increasing political disaffection among indigenous youth that reside in rural counties. 2017 artículo científico 0123-5923 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=21254609003 https://www.redalyc.org/journal/212/21254609003/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/212/21254609003/html/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/212/21254609003/21254609003.epub https://www.redalyc.org/journal/212/21254609003/movil 10.1016/j.estger.2017.11.005 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=212 Estudios Gerenciales application/pdf Universidad ICESI Estudios Gerenciales (Colombia) Num.145 Vol.33
