| contents | Cidade, territórios e cidadania Marcelo Baumann Burgos Sociología city favela citizenship and territorialization Brazilian cities, and especially the large metropolises, have undergone aprocess of territorialization, that is, legal and political fragmentation of theurban fabric with the configuration of spaces dominated by informal localauthorities. Such spaces take on characteristics common to the favelas(slums) such as those of Rio de Janeiro which have historically displayed thistype of ecological configuration. The central hypothesis of this article is thatthis process of urban territorialization has placed an important constraint onthe full exercise of citizenship in low-income areas, since it turns the place ofresidence into a segregated space, lacking minimum conditions forexercising the most elementary civil rights. 2005 artículo científico 0011-5258 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=21848107 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=218 Dados - Revista de Ciências Sociais application/pdf Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro Dados - Revista de Ciências Sociais (Brasil) Num.1 Vol.48 |
