contents Classe Social e Desigualdade de Gênero no Brasil José Alcides Figueiredo Santos Sociología social class gender wage gap gender inequality Generalized Linear Model interactions between class and gender This article investigates the hypothesis that gender inequality in incomein Brazil is influenced by the social class context. Class order andoccupational segregation act as relevant factors in gender inequality. The effect of social class on the gender wage gap, although less pronouncedas compared to interactions between class and race, plays animportant "moderating" role on gender disparity, particularly by accentuatingthe gap in the case of capitalists, managers, and holders ofprofessional qualifications (as assets) and attenuating them in the caseof ordinary workers. The study identifies sharp inequality in gendertreatment that appears to supersede the inequality in access to valuablecontexts and resources, representing a direct effect of gender. 2008 artículo científico 0011-5258 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=21851205 pt http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=218 Dados - Revista de Ciências Sociais application/pdf Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro Dados - Revista de Ciências Sociais (Brasil) Num.2 Vol.51
