The article discusses the hypothesis raised bySchmitt, Carneiro, & Kuschnir that free TV advertising time allows politicalparties to organize their candidates hierarchically, establishing informal“slates”. The study thus links two types of evidence, concerning: 1) the efficacyof free TV time as an instrument for political communication, whereby moreTV time tends to translate into more votes for a candidate and 2) the analysis ofdifferent strategies adopted by the political parties to split the free advertisingtime between the candidates. 2008 artículo científico 0011-5258 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=21851208 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=218 Dados - Revista de Ciências Sociais application/pdf Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro Dados - Revista de Ciências Sociais (Brasil) Num.2 Vol.51
