  • A Ordem magazine and the ‘communist scourge’: on the border between the political, intellectual, and religious spheres Marco Antônio Machado Lima Pereira Historia communism Catholicism “visions of the world” In the 1920’s, during the Neo-Christianity period, one of the most influential generations of Catholic lay leaders in the history of Latin America was centered around the Dom Vital Center. The main source for spreading the ideas of this group was the monthly magazine A Ordem, launched in 1921. The main objective of this paper was to present the core elements used by secular elites to undermine the communist project, such as the notion of private property, the question of the organization of society and the comparison between communism/religious beliefs.
