contents Old and Young in Thucydides: Experience, Learning, and Themistocles Antonis Tsakmakis Historia Old Age Education Experience Alcibiades Themistocles Thucydides composed his work in order to provide political education to his future readers. He wrote in a period which was fond of expert knowledge and appreciated intellectual progress. Knowledge-based education was available especially to young people. On the other hand, in his work he presents people learning from experience, a process which privileges people of a certain age. An exceptional figure is Themistocles who is characterized in a way which points to the limits of education and conveys an additional message to Thucydides’ contemporaries. 2017 artículo científico 1575-6823 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=28250843009 https://www.redalyc.org/journal/282/28250843009/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/282/28250843009/html/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/282/28250843009/28250843009.epub https://www.redalyc.org/journal/282/28250843009/movil en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=282 Araucaria.
