The graduates, the investigation, and intellectual production are consideredthe most important results from the universities. Characterize and consider the results produced by its graduates in the environment,is important for the auto evaluation process of the academic programs and the institutions of superior education. The situationsof the graduates a proof of the reaching of the universities goals in its education and mission. The chase of our graduates is an evaluative strategy of curricular character to valve the performanceand professional development of the graduates; identifythe adecuation degree existing between the education receivedand the professional and occupational profile, giving importantinformation to make decisions in the educative programs; eventhough its not the only variable to consider when its aboutchanging academic programs that must consider the scientifictechniques, humanist and social requirements and the needs ofthe market in terms of the employers.Methodology: The nursing school and education andpedagogic institute of Valle University made a descriptive studyto analyze the situation of the graduates of the nursingspecialization between the years 1992 and 2002; in relation to thecharacteristic of their employees, their contribution to the creationof companies, their affiliation to graduate associationspublications made.Results: The graduates are working in public and privateinstitutions with a bigger percentage in private institution,except for the graduates in nephrology. The graduates qualifythe program as good between 70% and 50%, and as excellentbetween 37% and 50%, the university must work in continuousimprovement and advance the qualification of the program fromgood and excellent.
