It was funded by CONICET and Fundación Ecosistemas Humanos, and its objectivewas to obtain the standards of behavior of non-referred children during their interaction with Anatomically DetailedDolls (ADs ). The study comprised interviews with mother and child, as well as a pediatric examination. Childrensbehavior with ADs was observed and coded to generate typical profiles by gender and age, and also to investigateindividual, family, and contextual correlates of the behaviors. Negative factors, such as poverty, neglect, or physicalpunishment were found to increase activity with dolls, but also did positive factors, such as higher cognitive development.Explicitly sexual manipulations were very rare. This work provided a model for a standardized observation of thebehavior with anatomic dolls that can be used as an exploratory tool when sexual abuse is suspected.
