- Living with HIV in the Dominican Republic Marivi Arregui Psicología stigma Dominican Republic Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome This is a qualitative study based on the testimony of directors of organizations addressing HIV/AIDS andpeople living with HIV/AIDS in the Dominican Republic. Although the manifestations of stigma and discriminationrelated to HIV/AIDS have decreased in the Dominican Republic in comparison to past decades, ignorance andlack of supervision from government authorities foster that people with HIV do not receive adequate healthservices and the protection of their right to employment. Some groups are more affected than others as aproduct of the reinforcement of existing prejudices in the Dominican society, such as antihaitianism. Facing thechanges in the spread of the epidemic I propose some reflections on gender and HIV, and suggest how toreinforce existing positive initiatives and the adoption of new ones. 2007 artículo científico 0034-9690 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=28441104 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=284 Revista Interamericana de Psicología/Interamerican Journal of Psychology application/pdf Sociedad Interamericana de Psicología Revista Interamericana de Psicología/Interamerican Journal of Psychology (Puerto Rico) Num.1 Vol.41
