- Polintertainment: The use of humour in political communication Luciana Panke Comunicación propaganda Brazil politics polintertainment Political communication The article presents the concepts of po lintertainment inspired on a n empirical study of Vota Brasil campaign promoted by th e Superior Electoral C ourt, in Brazil, during the 2008 electoral process . The methodology adopted uses bibliographic survey, empirical study with analysis of propaganda b roadcast on television and the interpretative readi ng of the campaign carried out by a focus group composed of voters with no party affiliation. It is emphasized that in Brazil, during the study period, there were municipal electio ns, in which 15,297 candidates have applied for mayors and 348,793 for city councils. In 5564 municipalities 128,806,592 citizens we re ab le to vote. In Brazil, voting is mandatory and there is much misinfo rmation about the functions of the public office, vote‟s purchase and other ways o f corruption. To encourage the conscious vote , the Superior Electoral Court broadcasted propagand a on national open radio and television network. Among the strategies adopted to draw the public‟s attention, is the humour. The choice for the analysis of the cam paigns is justified by the following reas ons: social impact, originality and conten t of the mess ages. This paper is thus organized: firstly, refle cts on political communication, television, creative strategies analysis and then the context and understanding by a focu s group. So, we can propose the concept polintertainment because it is one of the str ategies to make t he public pay attention to the message. 2013 artículo científico 1180-9210 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=29732391002 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=297 Sphera Pública application/pdf Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia Sphera Pública (España) Num.13 Vol.I
