contents Ecology for Whom? Deep Ecology and the Death of Anthropocentrism Orlando José Ferrer Montaño Sociología paradigm ecocentrism Anthropocentrism Deep Ecology arises as a new perception to visualize the inexorablechanges that humanity currently confronts. This new scientificphilosophical-religious approach claims for a new treatment for theEarth. However, this new eco-centered approach transcends the limit ofany particular science of today, and claims that simple reforms are notsufficient. Deep Ecology calls for a reduction of human population andchange to our high-energy consumption and profligate resource use. Anthropocentrismshould be substituted by ecocentrism; a shift from anthropos, the human, to eco, the Earth. Although I amnot an advocated toDeep Ecology, in this paper I present a series of thoughts endorsing someof the Deep Ecology´s claims. I argue that deep ecological thinking andactions, together with a better use of our scientific, economic and naturalresources will add for a better and lasting global world. 2006 artículo científico 1012-1587 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=31005009 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=310 Opción application/pdf Universidad del Zulia Opción (República Bolivariana de Venezuela) Num.50 Vol.22
