Structuration is a theory that hasbeen in the information systems field; it might be a promising avenue tobetter understand how technologies interact within organizations. Becausetechnology and information systems cannot usefully be studied inisolation from their social contexts, this paper analyzes how GiddensStructuration Theory is used to offer a theoretical understanding betweentechnology and information systems, and organizational structureand social practices.
