| contents | Reividicar la modernidad frente a la posmodernidad en América Latina el universalismo como base del relativismo cultural Benjamin Schwenn Estudios Culturales Beginning with a brief analysis of the postmodern discussion in LatinAmerica, the present article suggests the revindication of some of theelements of modernist thought (above all, universalism), in order to notlose the possibility of a philosophical foundation of certain normativepresuppositions that form part of the motivation of some of the postmodemcritics in Latin America.
