- Organic acids, an alternative in poultry nutrition: a review Jaime Ángel-Isaza Natalia Mesa-Salgado William Narváez-Solarte Veterinaria chicken Antibiotic microbiota production gastrointestinal The use of organic acids in the chickens' feeding contributes to the maintenance of the integrity and stability of their intestinal biota; besides, inhibits the proliferation of pathogen microorganisms, it helps to prevent the appearance of diseases and improve their productive performance. For this reason and for be safe for consumers, organic acids have been proposed as an alternative to the replacement of antibiotics growth promoters. However, its experimental use in the chicken's diet shows diverse and contradictory results, coming from differences in factors related with: type and dose of the organic acid used, diet composition and the breeding environment in which the experiments are carried out. The aim of this review is to present an analysis of the different experimental results in the use of organic acids in relation to the intestinal physiology, productive and hematological parameters in the broiler chicken. 2019 reseña 1900-9607 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=321461852005 https://www.redalyc.org/journal/3214/321461852005/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/3214/321461852005/html/ https://www.redalyc.org/journal/3214/321461852005/321461852005.epub https://www.redalyc.org/journal/3214/321461852005/movil 10.21615/cesmvz.14.2.4 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=3214 Revista CES Medicina Veterinaria y Zootecnia application/pdf Universidad CES Revista CES Medicina Veterinaria y Zootecnia (Colombia) Num.2 Vol.14
