PREGLIASCO Biología Blowflies Human DNA Gut content STR analysis Through the analysis of DNA extracted from the gut contents of larvae known to consume human tissue, a methodology emerges for determining the source of their sustenance. In this study, human liver was provided as a food source to larvae and adults of Calliphora vicina Robineau-Desvoidy (Diptera: Calliphoridae). Emphasis was primarily placed on evaluating the quality and persistence of human genetic material present in the gut of larvae as well as in the secretions of adults that emerged from larvae fed on human liver.
