  • Dating the Tiwanaku State Szymon Augustyniak Antropología 14C Tiwanaku chronology calibration radiocarbon dating The number of radiocarbon dates associated with the Tiwanaku state has grown through the years, and there are more than 130 published 14C determinations. In this paper radiocarbon dates from different regions of the Tiwanaku culture area were collected, described, calibrated and analyzed. The results have been compared with existing chronological frameworks and various existingtheories on the nature and development of the Tiwanaku state. Calibrated sets of 14C dates and their related cultural contexts showthat phases Tiwanaku I, II and III overlap; and that Tiwanaku IV and V partially overlap. Calibration of sets, combined withgeographical origin show the main period of Tiwanaku activity falling under the second half of the first millennium, but differencesare found in particular areas of influence. 2004 artículo científico 0716-1182 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=32636103 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=326 Chungara, Revista de Antropología Chilena application/pdf Universidad de Tarapacá Chungara, Revista de Antropología Chilena (Chile) Num.1 Vol.36
