The host-guest interaction usually causes changes in their chemical, catalytic, electronicand optical properties. The isolation of materials with interesting properties and making use of soft chemistryroutes have given rise the possibility of industrial and technological applications of these compounds. Wehave been using several synthetic approaches to intercalate porphyrins and phthalocyanines into inorganicmaterials: smectite clays, layered double hydroxides and layered niobates. The isolated materials have beencharacterized by elemental and thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, surface area measurements, scanningelectronic microscopy, electronic and resonance Raman spectroscopies and EPR. The degree of layer stackingand the charge density of the matrices as well their acid-base nature were considered in our studies on theinteraction between the macrocycles and inorganic hosts. 2000 artículo científico 0001-3765 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=32772106 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=327 Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências application/pdf Academia Brasileira de Ciências Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências (Brasil) Num.1 Vol.72
