- Susceptible hosts: a resort for parasites right in the eye of the immune response George A. Dosreis Multidisciplinaria (Ciencias Naturales y Exactas) CTLA apoptosis T lymphocytes Trypanosoma cruzi Leishmania chagasi Trypanosomatid protozoan parasites express an aggressive strategy of parasitism by infecting hostmacrophages and inducing extensive T-lymphocyte activation. One goal of such strategy is to drive theimmune response of genetically susceptible hosts to a state of unresponsiveness regarding parasite killing.Unresponsiveness is achieved through different mechanisms, depending on the parasite species. In this briefreview, recent findings on the molecular and cellular bases of the parasites´ exploitation of host immuneresponses are discussed. 2000 artículo científico 0001-3765 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=32772111 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=327 Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências application/pdf Academia Brasileira de Ciências Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências (Brasil) Num.1 Vol.72
