| contents | Effect of leaf essential oil from Piper solmsianum C.DC. in mice behaviour Maria Auxiliadora C. Kaplan Davyson L. Moreira Patrícia O. Souza Nuno A. Pereira Geraldo L. Cardoso Elsie F. Guimarães Multidisciplinaria (Ciencias Naturales y Exactas) sarisan Piperaceae essential oil Piper solmsianum psychopharmacologic effect The essential oil from Piper solmsianum leaves and its major compound (sarisan) were tested to verifytheir influences upon mice behaviour. The essential oil was obtained by hydrodistillation in a modifiedClevenger extractor and analysed by GC/ MS. This analysis revealed in the oil the presence of monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes and of arylpropanoids. The compound sarisan, a myristicin analogue, was isolated from theoil to perform the pharmacological tests. Emulsions of the oil and of sarisan (5.0 and 10.0% v/v) were usedin the tests. Pentobarbital (30 mg/ kg s.c.) or diazepam (2.5 mg/ kg s.c.) were tested as standard drugs toverify depressant or anxiolytic effects, respectively. Both essential oil and sarisan showed to have excitingand depressant effects in the tested animals. 2001 artículo científico 0001-3765 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=32773104 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=327 Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências application/pdf Academia Brasileira de Ciências Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências (Brasil) Num.1 Vol.73 |
