contents Selectivity and efficiency of pyrene attachment to alkanes induced by broadband X-rays Gerald O. Brown Noel A. Guardala Jack L. Price Richard G. Weiss Multidisciplinaria (Ciencias Naturales y Exactas) rays pyrene broadband x cyclohexane heneicosane Bombardment of pyrene-doped n-heneicosane (C21H44) in its orthorhombic solid phase with <1.3> MeVbroadband X-rays results in the formation of both mono- and di-heneicosylpyrenes, whereas the same dosein liquid cyclohexane yields only monosubstituted pyrene. In both cases, the reaction efficiency decreases aspyrene concentration is increased from 10−5 to 10−2 M. Qualitatively, the overall attachment efficiency ishigher in orthorhombic n-heneicosane than in liquid cyclohexane, but the selectivity of attachment is greaterin cyclohexane. Differences between these results and those from irradiations of the same samples with eVrange photons are discussed. 2003 artículo científico 0001-3765 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=32775105 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=327 Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências application/pdf Academia Brasileira de Ciências Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências (Brasil) Num.1 Vol.75
