contents Structural control over well productivity in the Jundiaí River Catchment, Southeastern Brazil Mirna A. Neves Norberto Morales Multidisciplinaria (Ciencias Naturales y Exactas) Jundiaí tectonics groundwater crystalline rocks Southeastern Brazil The well productivity in crystalline terrains is extremely changeable and depends on external factors, in addition tothe intrinsic properties of rocks. In the Jundiaí River Catchment, Southeastern Brazil, the main factor that influenceswell productivity is the existence of open discontinuities permeability in geologic environments that favor groundwaterrecharge. In that area, Pre-Cambrian shear and fault zones were reactivated throughout geologic time, controllingthe morphostructural compartments and the Cenozoic sedimentary deposition. Superposition of productivity data andstructural maps showed that more productive wells are concentrated mainly along the regional geologic structures. Thestructural control over well productivity is also noticeable in detailed scale. Using fine scale maps we show that themost productive wells are located in areas where brittle structures with NW–SE and E–W directions denote the actionof neotectonic transtensional stress. The comprehension of evolutionary geologic history allied to fracturing analysisproved to be an efficient and a low cost technique, which is adequate for selecting areas for further developments usingmore expensive methods 2007 artículo científico 0001-3765 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=32779212 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=327 Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências application/pdf Academia Brasileira de Ciências Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências (Brasil) Num.2 Vol.79
