Oscar PAMO REYNA Medicina history of medicine high altitude medicine acute mountain sickness High altitude physiology Daniel Vergara Lope (1865-1938), a mexican physician, was a pioneer of the high altitude’ s man physiology in the last decade of the XIXth century. And, Thomas Holmes Ravenhill (1881-1952), British physicians, described for the first time the clinical variants of the acute mountain sickness (called “puna” or “soroche”) in 1913.
