Participants: A convenience sample consisting of 306 individuals , 65 years or older , selected between April 8 and July 15, 2002 . Methods : All patients underwent a comprehensive geriatric assessment , which included the Mini - Mental State Examination ( MMSE ) and the cognitive part of the Cambridge Examination for Mental Disorders of the Elderly - Revised ( CAMCOG -R ) , and were classified according to their condition or not with dementia (DSM -IV). An analysis was made post - hoc data of the three-word recall test included the MMSE and the Clock Drawing Test , included in the CAMCOG -R . The results of each test were grouped and interpreted in accordance with the protocol of the Mini -Cog . Results: 293 subjects completed all phases of the study , and 211 had four or fewer years of schooling and had their data analyzed , 32% had dementia . The sensitivity and specificity of the Mini -Cog were consistently low , regardless of the cutoff point . The best performance at a cutoff of 2/3 , reported sensitivity and specificity of 60 % and 65 % , respectively.
