This article defends the thesis that Schopenhauer’s epistemology historically promoted the idea that at least one of the objectives of epistemic research is the tenacious and creative exploration of heuristic potential of a theoretical system (Popper), a disciplinary matrix (Kuhn), and a scientific research program (Lakatos).
