- Globalización, educación y conciencia histórica: historiografía imperial, federal y crisis de la historia nacional Ramón Rivas Educación The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of globalization on national history studies. Within the framework of this process ofuniversal importance, it is essential to recognize the existence of an imperial, regional and federal historiography that acts in detriment tonational history. Interdependence and the growth of the free market have called into question the old criteria of the nation-state and its significancefor national awareness.Nevertheless, it is vital that historical awareness not be lost, in order to reconstruct, in the midst of imperial and federal complexities, the senseof belonging that comes from national history. This task must be part of the duties of teachers and professors in basic education, high schoolsand universities.
