Fernández de Palencia Espinos V. Arocas Casañ B. Garrido Corro A. de la Rubia Nieto Medicina 2a Rituximab Hepatitis C virus Acquired haemophilia A Pegylated interferon alpha Background: Acquired haemophilia is an uncommon conditioncaused by the development of clotting factor inhibitors. To eliminate them, immunosuppressive therapy with corticosteroidsand cytotoxic drugs is required. Methods: We describe a case of rituximab use in acquired hae-mophilia refractory to conventional therapy in a 63 year oldmale patient with chronic hepatitis C virus infection who wasreceiving treatment with pegylated-interferon-a-2a plus riba-virin. Results: After 21 weeks of antiviral therapy, the patient was admitted to hospital with a large haematoma in the abdominalmuscles. Factor VIII level was zero and inhibitor titer was 345Bethesda units. Oral immunosuppressive therapy with methyl-prednisolone and cyclophosphamide was administered for 1month, with limited improvement. Therefore, cyclophospha-mide was replaced by a four once-weekly dose of intravenousrituximab. Two months later, factor VIII level was normal andinhibitor titer was undetectable. Conclusion: Rituximab may be useful for the treatment of acquired haemophilia resistant to standard therapy. 2013 artículo científico 1130-6343 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=365961336008 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=3659 Farmacia Hospitalaria application/pdf Sociedad Española de Farmacia Hospitalaria Farmacia Hospitalaria (España) Num.6 Vol.37 |
