- Relevant stress indices in aquatic ecotoxicology Guillermina Alcaraz Ciencias de la Tierra stress pollutants toxicology ecotoxicology stress indices Stress indices in different biological organization levels are analyzed as tools in ecotoxicologicalstudies. Individual stress indices of high organization levels are proposed to obtain a confidentknowledge of the damages or disadvantages caused by pollutants on individual organisms, under the assumption that any disadvantage (caused by stress agents) on individuals providea confident evidence of a detrimental condition of the population. Particularly, relevant individualanimal responses related with changes of the use of environmental resources, alterations ofavoidance responses, shifts of biotic preferences, and decrease on functional capacity andperformance are proposed as useful indices in ecotoxicological studies. 2000 artículo científico 0188-4999 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=37016205 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=370 Revista Internacional de Contaminación Ambiental application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Internacional de Contaminación Ambiental (México) Num.2 Vol.16
