contents Effect of Zn(II) on acid hydrolysis of methylparathion Reyna B. Rendón José A. Manzanilla Manuel H. Barceló Julio Flores Ciencias de la Tierra Zn(II) hydrolysis polarography methylparathion paranitrophenol Methylparathion (O,O,dimethylO4nitrophenylphosphorotioate) kinetic transformationin presence of Zn(II) was studied at pH range from 2 to 7. Between pH 25methylparathion degraded, but at pH 6 and 7 Zn(II) precipitated and the pesticidehydrolysis did not occur. The reaction was first order and the rate constant valueswere 3.38 x 10 2h 1(pH 2), 7.69 x 10 3h 1(pH 3), 1.31 x 10 2h 1(pH 4) and 1.02 x 10 2h 1(pH 5). Paranitrophenol appeared as the only electroactive product at all pHvalues. It is proposed that the main degradation pathway for methylparathion in acidmedium was a hydrolysis reaction of the pesticide catalyzed by Zn(II), via an electrophilicmechanism. 2006 artículo científico 0188-4999 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=37022102 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=370 Revista Internacional de Contaminación Ambiental application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Internacional de Contaminación Ambiental (México) Num.1 Vol.22
