contents Total contents of cadmium, copper, manganese and zinc in agricultura1 soils irrigated with wastewater from Hidalgo, México Gilberto Hernández Silva Lourdes Flores Delgadillo Mireya Maples Vermeersch René Alcalá Martínez Ciencias de la Tierra zinc copper cadmium manganese wastewater This study analyzes the levels of heavy metals (Cd, Cu, Mn and Zn) present in five soilprofiles from the state of Hidalgo and which, for over 40 years, have been irrigated withwastewater coming out of the basin of Mexico. These soil profiles are compared to othersfrom a nearby area which are free from effluent irrigation. It was observed that in siteswhich have been irrigated with sewage effluents the averages of metal concentrations in Aphorizons were consistently higher in comparison with the lower horizons. The averagecontent of Cu in Ap horizons was highly significant which indicates high accumulation inthe superficial soil layers. With respect to Cd and Zn, it was noted that highly significantaccumulations embrace the two most superficial soil horizons. No significant accumulationsof Mn were present in the superficial soil horizons. It was possible to observe theinfluence of irrigation when comparisons were made between total contents of the abovementioned elements in areas irrigated with wastewater and those not receiving these effluents. In this last case heavy metal contents were lower and the difference between bothareas was highly significant. Contents of organic matter and silt seem to be the soil propertiesmost associated to the presence of Cu, Mn and Zn in soils irrigated with sewageeffluents, while CacoS contents in soils is the characteristic most associated to Cd. 1992 artículo científico 0188-4999 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=37080103 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=370 Revista Internacional de Contaminación Ambiental application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Revista Internacional de Contaminación Ambiental (México) Num.1 Vol.8
