This essay argues that by givingdomestic violence lite r a ry representation, co n temporaryPuerto Rican writers aspire to make public an issuetraditionally considered private. Also, this essay analyzes how,in accordance to the revisionist tendency in contemporaryPuerto Rican narrative, authors do not characterize abusedwomen as passive victims, but as survivors trying to end thecycle of violence by breaking the silence and by demandingsocial solidarity.
