Doesthe excessive sexual trope to which Puerto Rican literarytexts insistently return point to an area of agency or selfdeterminationstill worth pursuing or advocating? Through anexamination of the Italian philosopher Giorgio Agamben´srecent meditations on sovereignty and on its implications forpolitical action in what he calls our contemporary, globalizedstate of exception this essay explores those timelyquestions.
