Sandlin Sociología gay queer poetry identity sexuality Ohio-based, Chicago-born, gay, Puerto Rican author RaneArroyo writes poetry in which ghosts and ghostliness serveas metaphors for identities that are present but not alwaysrepresented in dominant U.S. literary history. This essayargues that in Arroyo´s mainly autobiographical poetry, ghosts, hauntings, and a broader concept of ghostliness areused to interrogate identifications that float between, around, and through socially constructed categories suchas race, ethnicity, nationality, and sexuality. While therelationship between the poetic voice and his spectersvaries and is shown to be quite complex, Arroyo´s ghostsserve not only as constant inspiration for his poetry butalso as vehicles for his meditations on identity. 2007 artículo científico 1538-6279 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=37719109 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=377 Centro Journal application/pdf The City University of New York Centro Journal (Estados Unidos de América) Num.1 Vol.XIX
