contents Vestibular evoked myogenic potential and its implications in the frequency domain Aline Tenório Lins Carnaúba Otávio Gomes Lins Ilka do Amaral Soares Kelly Cristina Lira de Andrade Pedro de Lemos Menezes Salud Function Tests Labyrinth Vestibulum Accoustic Stimulation Motor Evoked Potential Sacculum and Utriculum Purpose: Determine whether there is an association between VEMP inthe time domain and the frequency domain. Methods: The sample wascomposed of 18 individuals (36 ears), six men and 12 women. In theVEMP test in the time domain, 200 tone burst stimuli were promediatedat a frequency of 500 Hz, with 5.1 stimulations/s at an intensity of 95dBNAn. This was followed by capture in the frequency domain, where200 stimuli consisting of 500 Hz (carrier frequency) pure tones werepromediated and modulated at a frequency of 40 Hz. Odds ratio wascalculated and the chi-squared test was applied to compare the responsesof two domains. This is a cross-sectional contemporary cohort study. Results: VEMP in the time domain was recorded by unilateral stimulationand capture, with adequate morphology, in 88.88% of the ears. Inthe frequency domain test, a steady-state peak was found in 30 of the 36tests (83.33%). The chi-squared test and odds ratio calculation showeda strong relationship between the two domains. Conclusion: There is asignificant association between the VEMP tests in the time and frequencydomains, a finding that suppports its use in clinical practice. 2013 artículo científico 2317-6431 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=391544056004 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=3915 Audiology - Communication Research application/pdf Academia Brasileira de Audiologia Audiology - Communication Research (Brasil) Num.4 Vol.18
