contents Anonymizing but Deteriorating Location Databases Tran Khanh Dang Tuan Anh Truong Computación anonymity data mining location databases privacy protection The tremendous development of location-basedservices and mobile devices has led to an increase in locationdatabases. Through the data mining process, valuableinformation can be discovered from such location databases. However, the malicious data miner or attackers may also extractprivate and sensitive information about the user, and this cancreate threats against the user location privacy. Therefore, location privacy protection becomes a key factor to the success inprivacy protection for the users of location-based services. In thispaper, we propose a novel approach as well as an algorithm toguarantee k-anonymity in a location database. The algorithm willmaintain the association rules that have significance for the datamining process. Moreover, there may appear new significantassociation rules created after anonymization, they maybe affectthe data mining result. Therefore, the algorithm also considersexcluding new significant association rules that are createdduring the run of the algorithm. Theoretical analyses andexperimental results with real-world datasets will confirm thepractical value of our newly proposed approach. 2012 artículo científico 1870-9044 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=402640460010 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=4026 Polibits application/pdf Instituto Politécnico Nacional Polibits (México) Vol.46
