The Domestic Environment on the Boa Vista Island, Cape Verde Andréa de Souza Lobo Antropología gender emigration anthropology Social organization This article discusses family organization on the Island of Boa Vista, in CapeVerde, within a context of female emigration. The category of disorganiza-tion used by the social Cape Verdeans themselves is revisited so as to makethe concept of family relative by using the concepts of “scattered families”and “distant proximity.” The analysis shows that the feeling of belonging orbreach in family relations depends upon a balance in the maintenance of thenumerous principles of social filiation which keep people united. Importantconcepts such as consanguinity, filiation, conjugality, kinship and others areanalyzed in the light of ethnographic data presented. 2008 artículo científico 1809-4341 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=406941906003 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=4069 VIBRANT - Vibrant Virtual Brazilian Anthropology application/pdf Associação Brasileira de Antropologia VIBRANT - Vibrant Virtual Brazilian Anthropology (Brasil) Num.2 Vol.5
