Two bacterial families of ictiopathogenicrelevance were presumptively identifi ed: Aeromonadaceae and Vibrionaceae, through the API-20E, API-20NE methods. The identity of these bacteria was confi rmed through complementary biochemical tests. The presence of Aeromonashydrophila and two different strains of the genus Vibrio: Vibrio fl uvialis and Vibrio furnissii were also confi rmed using the polymerasechain reaction. We confi rmed the ability of the Vibrio species to induce infection in healthy susceptible fi sh of the speciesCarassius auratus, according to Koch´s postulates. The strains of both species were cultured in agar- blood plates, observingα-hemolysis in 97% of the grown strains. Alkaline DNA extraction yielded R-plasmids in 87.5 % of the isolated strains with molecularweights from 25 000 bp to 6 000 bp. The relation between the α-hemolytic capacity of the studied strain and the presence ofplasmids was confi rmed by the lack of hemolysis in agar-blood plates and the inability to produce inhibition halos in the antibioticstest, after curing the plasmids with acridine-orange. 2006 artículo científico 0301-5092 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=42337103 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=423 Veterinaria México application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Veterinaria México (México) Num.1 Vol.37
