Néstor Ledesma Martínez Rogelio Alonso Tamas Fehervari Multidisciplinaria (Ciencias Naturales y Exactas) RFLP ANEMIA POLLOS MÉXICO INFECCIOSA Chicken infectious anemia is the main immunosuppressive disease of poultry. It is caused by a Gyrovirus. Thirty positive samples for chicken infectious anemia virus (CIAV) were identifi ed by PCR amplifi cation of a fragment of 675 bp of the amino-terminal end of the VP1 gene protein. Amplifi ed fragments were characterized by restriction fragment length polymorphism, digesting with HaeIII, HinfI and HpaII endonucleases. From the 30 samples, 12 could be classifi ed into 4 previously described viral groups, whereas the 18 remaining samples formed 6 new groups. These results suggest that the virus of the chicken infectious anemia in Mexico has a wide genetic variability including worldwide distributed variants and novel local varieties.
