contents Producción de leche y comportamiento reproductivo de vacas de doble propósito que consumen forrajes tropicales y concentrados Claudio Vite Cristóbal Rufino López Ordaz José Guadalupe García Muñiz Rodolfo Ramírez Valverde Agustín Ruiz Flores Reyes López Ordaz Multidisciplinaria (Ciencias Naturales y Exactas) DUAL MILK YIELD REPRODUCTION PURPOSE CATTLE SUPPLEMENTATION The objective was to evaluate the genetic and environmental factors on milk yield (MY) and reproductive traits of 1/2 Holstein × 1/2 Zebu (HZ), 1/2 Brown Swiss(S) × 1/2 Z (SZ), and ¾ S × 1/4 Z (3S1Z) crossbred cows. Lactation records (n = 90) of 30 crossbreed cows, 10 of each racial group in three commercial dual-purpose farms of Veracruz, Mexico, were used. Total milk yield per cow per day (TMY), daily MY (DMY), calving interval MY (CIMY), peak milk yield (PMY), days to peak milk yield (DPMY), and lactation length (DL), were analyzed. The obtained results showed that the racial group did not infl uenced (P > 0.05) on any studied produc-tive characteristics. Reproductive characteristics including age at fi rst calving (AFC), days open (DO), calving interval (CI), were analyzed using survival analysis procedures. Results of the survival analyses showed F1 cows had better (P < 0.01) reproductive performance than 3S1C cows, with earlier AFC, both shorter DO and CI and earlier JCD. In conclusion, crossbred cows HZ, SZ, and 3S1Z grazing tropical forages supplemented with 18% CP concentrates had similar performance in DMY, MYL, PMY, DPMY, and DL. Holstein × Zebu crossbreed cows showed higher reproductive ability than cows with Swiss genes. Results from this study suggest HZ crossbred cows as the most appropriate to produce milk in the tropical conditions of northern Veracruz. 2007 artículo científico 0301-5092 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=42338107 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=423 Veterinaria México application/pdf Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Veterinaria México (México) Num.1 Vol.38
