contents Caracterización química, física y microbiológica de vermicompostes producidos a partir de cinco sustratos orgánicos Lolita Durán Carlos Henríquez Agrociencias Compost vermicompost organic wastes “red californian” worm compost characterization Volumes of 0.03m3 of domestic waste, caw manure, bananaproduction residues, ornamental foliage, andcoffee beans residues were deposited separatelyinto wood containers and inoculated with 600adult worms of the “red californian” (Eiseniafoetida) type. After 3 months, samples ofthe vermicompost were analized. The resultsshowed that vermicompost materials were highlydifferent in their properties. Banana and domestictreatments had the highest values for K (7 and3%, respectively). Both materials had similarbehavior in pH and salinity, being higher thanthe other treatments. On the other hand, domesticwaste was the highest in N (3.1%). Manure hadthe highest P value with 2%. Domestic wasteshowed the highest porcentage of aerial spacebut the lowest of water retention capacity; whichwas correlated with greater pores. The volumedecreased 80% for both domestic and greenleaves, 83% for banana, 53% for manure, and67% for coffee beans residues. All materialsshowed high abundance of microorganisms, beingdomestic and banana treatments more abundantin actinomyces and fungi. It is important to point out that vermicompost materials can be highlydiverse in characteristics and those are mainlydetermined by their primary sources. 2007 artículo científico 0377-9424 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=43631105 en http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=436 Agronomía Costarricense application/pdf Universidad de Costa Rica Agronomía Costarricense (Costa Rica) Num.1 Vol.31
