Enara Zarrabeitia Bilbao Izaskun Álvarez Meaza Administración y Contabilidad public funding Basque Country Business internationalisation internationali sation policies Currently, almost all the territories consider the internationa lisation of their enterprises as a key enabler to realize their competitive ness, welfare and regional development. However, so far, very few stu dies have been conducted that analyse t he relationship between the internationalisation aids and t he degree of internationalisatio n achieved by a territory. Thus, the objective of this research p aper is to analyse the relationships between the internationalisation indi cators and the budget expenditure devot ed to internationalisation by B asque government. This requires definit ion of the indicators for asse ssing the internationalisation, which hav e been obtained from the Plan fo r Business Competitiveness 2010-2013 and the Plan for Business Internationalisation 2014-2016 el aborated by Basque Government. Moreover, in order to carry out the research study, the necessa ry data has been obtained from different B asque and Spanish institution s. After obtaining the data, the estimation method used has been a bivariate correlation analysis that has helped to achieve the t arget set in the investigation. Results s hows that there is a positive re lationship between the expenditure on busine ss internationalisation and th e main indicators studied, but the s ame is not true, however, for the degree of openness of the economy and the investment relations with foreign countries .
