- USE OF BPM TO REDESIGN THE CONTAINER HANDLING PROCESS: A BRAZILIAN RETROPORTUARY TERMINAL CASE André Andrade Longaray Paulo Roberto Munhoz Alexandre Simão Albino Tiago Machado Castelli Administración y Contabilidad Container Handling Retroportuar y Terminals Business Process Management This paper describes a proposal t o redesign the containers hand ling process in a Brazilian retroportuary terminal using the Busines s Process Management (BPM) methodology. It employs applied research utilised through the different stages of a case study, and embodies the various aspects that influence the implementation of the internal handling process of c ontainers in the concerned organi sation. The mapping of the process allo wed for a better understanding o f the activity flow in the study. The new processes were laid out and redesigned. Their analysis displa yed a considerable 43% reducti on in container handling compared to t he current process.
