- DELINEATION OF THE CORPORAT E USE OF ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS (EIS): SELECTED CASES OF THE CORPORATE ORGANIZATIONS IN TANZANIA Felichesmi Selestine Lyakurwa Michael Shadrack Mangula Administración y Contabilidad Tanzania Management corporate organization Environmental Information System Environmental information systems are essential platforms for t he provision of adequate and relevant information necessary for th e planning and decision making for greener production. Corporate use of environmental information systems gained several benefits in th e global and local markets. Nevertheless, there was no documentation to explain the extent to which cor porate organizations utilize ava ilable environmental information systems in Tanzania. This study used purposive sampling with informants being workers from the strat egic, tactical and control functions o f the corporate organization. M oreover, data collection involved survey of 50 corporate organizations i n Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Moshi and Morogor o councils, with 71 respondent s. The collected data includes explo ration of the extent to which corporate management functions utilize available environmental informatio n systems in Tanzania. The study identified various cor porate environmental management functions performed at all level s of the corporate organization , in which workers spends less than one hour on the environmental informat ion systems available. The results also revealed that, there is ade quate utilization of available environmental information systems for environmental management.
