contents Estrategias farmacológicas para facilitar la adherencia a la terapia antirretroviral altamente activa Oneyda Clapé-Laffita Medicina Antiretroviral therapy highly active adverse effects Background: adherence to antiretroviral therapy is an important factor in achieving human immunode fi ciency virus suppression. The aim was to apply a pharmacological strategy, based in pharmacokinetics mea- sures for improvement the adherence to antiretroviral therapy. Methods: it was done a descriptive study during eight months, in 75 human immunode fi ciency virus positive patients with clinical and social criteria for highly active antiretroviral therapy in Opuwo, Namibia. Phar- macological aspects such as major side effects and dangerous drug-drug interactions were evaluated. Descriptive statistics analysis was applied. Results: three minor side effects were detected (two for efavirenz and one for nevirapine), and one major side effect for stavudine/lamivudine. Dangerous drug interactions were avoided doing pharmacokinetics mea- sures with efavirenz, stavudine/lamivudine and zidovudine; and between nevirapine and fl uconazol or ketoconazol. Conclusions: the adherence to highly active antiretroviral therapy was improvement with the application of the proposal pharmacological strat- egy to avoid side effects and dangerous drug interactions. 2013 artículo científico 0443-5117 https://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=457745488016 es http://www.redalyc.org/revista.oa?id=4577 Revista Médica del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social application/pdf Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social Revista Médica del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (México) Num.2 Vol.51
